The RM-series range of very compact and lightweight integral coolers has been practice-proven for many years with more than 20.000 units installed in many applications worldwide. The lightweight and compact design combined with low noise levels has made the RM-series to be recognized as one of the most preferred and quietest coolers in its class worldwide. The RM coolers are therefore very well suited for low acoustic noise applications such as hand-held night vision camera’s, vehicle thermal sight systems and soldier infrared equipment. The rotary monobloc cooler uses the same engine to drive both the compressor and the cold finger displacer. The 90° phase angle between compressor and displacer movement results in the best possible cryogenic efficiency of the overall system and in low power consumption of the cooler. The dynamic seals in the compressor and displacer are made of ceramic coated, hardened metal. The critical choice of ball bearings provides for a very balanced operation. The RM-series comprises different types of coolers offering several choices between cooling power, dimensions and weight. Our RM2 and RM4 coolers are designed to be integrated in the commonly used 1/4” dewar interface used by many detector manufacturers. On special request, Thales Cryogenics can always supply a cold finger that is tailored to the customers interface requirements. The integration of the cooler in the cold finger can be done either by Thales Cryogenics or at the customer’s facilities. For this, Thales Cryogenics can arrange for a technical training to be given by skilled staff.
